I learned this technique in a zoom meeting one day. Take your index finger and hold you right nostril down. Breathe in through your left nostril for 8 counts. As you breathe in, imagine all of the energy you've given out over the course of the day returning to you with each count. Next, hold your breath for another 8 counts. Envision the breath you've just pulled in is being returned to it's rightful places. Lastly, place your index finger on your left nostril and breathe out through your nose. While you do this, imagine you are releasing all the negative energy and emotions you may have attached to during the day. You may repeat this as many times as you need to regulate your emotions and return to a peaceful and loving state of being.

There are times in life when stress seems to be the main emotion that can take over. Have you ever had a great morning, everything is going well and then BOOM, someone comes to you with a problem, a tire goes flat, the kids seem to have left their minds inside their video games, or maybe you just woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Either reason, there's always moments in life where we can't control what happens. What we can do is control how we respond and how it affects us. You can feel what you are feeling, address why you feel that way, change what you can, accept what you can't, let it go and move forward. This seems simple and sounds easy but sometimes it isn't. I've found that being able to first recognize that my energy has shifted and I'm feeling a negative emotion is a way to help control those feelings. Recognizing that you have changed your regular resting state of being is the beginning of how you get back to who you want to be and how you want to feel.
Another tip, taking joy and being grateful for the small things will help remind you that life is so beautiful. So today, smile at someone new, stop and help a stranger, give yourself a twirl or spin to add some whimsy to your day, or do something nice for yourself or someone else. It may not change your entire world, but it can help make your day a bit brighter!
Flutter on!!
